Episode 1: Gary Frier PLAY
Born in Cape Town in 1972, Gary Frier is a south african painter who had participated in a long series of workshops and exhibitions in his home country as well as in Europe. Beside running his career in painting, he works presently on the board of the Greatmore Studios, a south african organization providing studios and residencies, facilitating workshops, and supporting outreach programmes to raise awareness of art.

Episode 2: Garth Erasmus PLAY
Garth Erasmus was born on 12 April 1956 in Uitenhage, in the roughness of the Eastern Cape. Engaged during apartheid, he notably organized the first Thupelo workshops as well as being an integral part of the politically-inclined Vakalisa Artists group. Many of his early works incorporate direct political imagery, including stencil images of Mandela at a time when representations of Mandela were illegal. Both through teaching and creating, Garth experienced several media during his career. He notably visited unexplored avenues in painting and invented his own music instruments. He presently focus on music by playing with his band As Is.

Episode 3: Sophie Peters PLAY
Sophie Peters was born in 1960 in Johannesburg. Her work mostly paintings in oil, pastels, or mixed media, prints- linocuts, monoprints and etchings draws from personal and her concerns for social issues in South Africa. She has been teaching in numerous art education programmes throughout the Cape Peninsula since 1987 and her work is represented in the South African National Gallery, as well as in private collections in South Africa, Europe, USA and Australia.

Episode 4: Cinga Samson PLAY
Born in 1987, Cinga Samson is an emerging painter living in Khayelitsha, the largest township in South Africa. He studied commercial photography at Stellenbosch Academy School of Design and Photography. Through his art, he notably expresses his frustrations related to wealth distribution in his country. He is presently a resident of Good Hope Art Studios, a non-profit organization providing studios and workshops to emerging and established artists.

Episode 5: Mncedi Bodlo PLAY
Born in 1974, Mncedi Bodlo is an emerging painter of Cape Town. Through colorful paints constituted of several metaphors and a complex use of lights and shadows, he tries to express a number of social, economic, cultural and environmental concerns about his country. He get his inspiration from his dreams as well as from traditional cultures. He is presently a resident at Good Hope Art Studios.

Episode 6: Tamryn Van Eyssen & Lizo James PLAY
Tamryn Van Eyssen and Lizo James are both concrete examples of how art can have an impact on social issues. Considering teaching as much important than performing, they worked in south african townships on the Ibhongolwethu program of Zip Zap Circus School, a series of circus arts workshops with HIV-positive children. Their talents got them overseas, teaching in Australia for Lizo and performing around Europe and USA for Tamryn.
